It is with great sadness that I heard about the passing of fellow Woodland artist, Moses Amik Beaver, at the age of 59 years. He painted in the vibrant style made famous by Ojibwe artist, and my father, Norval Morrisseau. Beaver was known for his striking depictions of spirits and animals, painted in vivid colours and outlined in black. He will be greatly missed.

Even more tragic, was to learn of the subsequent death of his sister, Mary Wabasse. Three days after Beaver’s death, while Mary was on her way to Thunder Bay, she was killed in a car accident outside the Thunder Bay city limits when her vehicle collided with a transport truck.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Beaver-Wabasse family at this extremely challenging time.

Christian Morrisseau

As a small act of support, all profits from sales of any of my T-shirt or Seven Fallen Feathers litho prints will be donated to the Beaver family, until Feb. 28, 2017.
